The Latchkey Program at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ began in 1989, just
after completion of our Outreach facility. This fully licensed program is for
grades K through 5th and is provided so children will have a safe place to go
after school from 3:00 until 6:00. Arrangements can be made for the student
to be picked up at school in the church van.
Your child's afternoon will begin with an after school snack. We generally serve
a variety of sandwiches, fruit, and cookies, with fruit drink or milk to drink. You
are welcome to send snacks anytime you wish. Also there is a coke machine in
the kitchen area with drinks available for $1 each. All profits from drinks sold
goes toward the funding of the Latchkey Program.
After a snack is provided, there will be a 30 minute period of recreation in the
gym. This time will be followed by a brief Bible study. The remaining time will
be filled with a study hall, organized games or crafts.
An opportunity is also provided for students to complete their homework
before a parent picks them up.
Any volunteers wishing to help students with their homework, serve snacks or
